After reciting the verse, when Maharishi Valmik ji came to his ashram, he met Lord Brahma ji. Brahma ji blessed Maharishi Valmik ji and assigned him the task of writing Ramayana. Thus this great epic - Ramayana was composed.
When Valmik ji was composing Ramayana, Mother Sita ji and her two sons Luv and Kush also lived in the ashram. Luv and Kush learned to sing it and spread the glory and greatness of Maharaj Shri Ram Chandra ji all around. Today the whole world remembers this great work of Maharishi Valmik ji. His poetic and philosophical thinking is a symbol of his divine qualities. This incredible work of his is relevant even in today's time. Any human being can change his life by introspection, turning away from evil and devotion to religion. The past can be completely different from your yesterday. Ramayana highlights the importance of religion. A happy life can be lived by following one's duties and moral values. Kindness, truth and duty are indeed the basis of life. The power of devotion has been described in detail in Ramayana. Mahabali Hanuman's devotion and dedication to Lord Rama is an example in itself. This work has a beautiful description of Kadar's love for nature, animals and birds. Lord Valmik Ji teaching the Luv clan to sing Ramayana proves how important it is to give education and human values to our future generations.
Today when we are celebrating the birth anniversary of this great saint, philosopher, great knowledgeable poet, we need to introspect as his descendants. Have we understood the importance of education? Perhaps not, the literacy rate in Valmik society is still very low. Even today a large number of them are earning their livelihood from risky and dirty jobs. A man of this caste loses his life every day in such work. Even today they are victims of oppression and affliction of upper caste people.
Bezwada Wilson received the "Ramon Magsaysay Award" for working for years on the issue of sanitation workers in India. They belong to the same community. His family gave him a good education. In this way he escaped from his father's dirty business. When he came to know that his own brother was doing such acts, he was shocked. So he started a campaign to end the dirty practice.
Lord Valmiki's teachings transcend time and cultures, providing important lessons of spirituality, morality and human experience. Let us pledge today that we will understand the importance of truth, duty and education and help our children build a clean, dignified future.
