Patiala: Today on 30-07-2025, a delegation of Pensioners Welfare Federation Punjab Pehalwan met the Chairman of Power Corporation under the leadership of Baba Amarjit Singh Suba Pradhan Ji. Apart from Baba Amarjit Singh, the delegation included B.S. Sekhon General Secretary, Rajinder Thakur Deputy General Secretary, Shivdev Singh Office Secretary, Paramjit Singh Legal Advisor, Naresh Kumar and Akshdeep Singh Senior Accounts Officer, Rajbir Singh etc.
Giving information about the conversation, B.S. Sekhon General Secretary said that the delegation brought to the notice of the Chairman and Director Finance that the arrears of the revised pay scales are being given to the pensioners who retired after 01-01-2016 in two parts.
One is the employees who have been serving regularly for some time after 1-1-2016 and the other is those who retired after serving for a few months after 01-01-2016. In this way, the installments of many pensioners are from 56 to 62 installments. Which is completely wrong and the Punjab Government's policy notification dated 18-02-2025 does not mention anywhere that the arrears are to be paid in 2 installments to the pensioners who retired after 01-01-2016. But this is being done in the Power Corporation.
Due to which there is a lot of frustration in the organization. On the occasion, the Chairman present ordered the Director Finance and the Chief Accounts Officer Headquarters to seek a written clarification from the Punjab Government Finance Department in this regard and whatever clarification comes, it should be followed without fail. Along with this, the delegation also demanded that the pensioners who retired after 1-1-2016, whose arrears as regular employees are less than 20000, should be paid in lump sum. In this regard, the Chairman also asked the Director Finance to seek clarification from the Finance Department of the Punjab Government in writing.
The delegation brought to the attention of the Chairman that almost six months have passed since the Punjab Government issued the notification of the revised pay scales, but so far all the pensioners have not been paid as per the schedule issued by the Punjab Government. CMD Sahib, taking this very seriously, has instructed the Director Finance to strictly follow the schedule issued by the Punjab Government and disciplinary action should be taken in writing against the officers who do not implement it seriously.
The delegation demanded from the Chairman that the dependents who were employed on advance basis and had earlier taken the allowance are being forced to deposit the allowance amount including interest, which in many cases amounts to Rs. 50 lakh to Rs. 75 lakh, at once. The delegation demanded that all the interest accrued on the allowance amount be waived. The Chairman assured that a case in this regard is being prepared and sent to the Punjab Government.
Apart from this, the delegation also demanded that the rates of knee replacement and eye lens replacement have been increased considerably by the Punjab Government some time ago, but the notification issued by the Punjab Government has not been adopted by the Power Corporation yet. It should be adopted and implemented as soon as possible. The Chairman asked the Manager I.R. and Welfare Department to take personal interest and take action in this regard.
