
''In India Semiconductor Technology is the Future'': Mr. Gopal Krishan Bajaj

Chandigarh: 13th March, 2024: Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh today took part in India Semiconductor Fab 2024. PM Sh. Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of 3 Semiconductor Facilities in India at Dholera (Gujarat), Sanand (Gujarat) and Morigaon (Assam) on 13th March, 2024. PEC Fraternity participated in this Semiconductor Mission of the country in an online mode. Along with this, Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy (SRIC) of PEC also conducted a seminar on ''Future of Semiconductor Technology in India'' in the senate hall. The main keynote speaker of the event Mr. Gopal Krishan Bajaj, Sr. Member, Applied Materials Albany, along with Director, PEC, Prof. (Dr.) Baldev Setia, and Prof. Arun Kumar Singh (Head, SRIC) graced the occasion with their esteemed presence. Registrar Col. R.M. Joshi, along with all the members of faculty and more than 70 students were also present at this event.
PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the 3 semiconductors of the country. Semiconductor is a foundational industry for every electronic device that we use. Prime Minister in his address, emphasized the requirement of semiconductor advancement in the country. He said that India is paving its way towards technological advancement by advancing its semiconductor technology. He focused on the capability of the youth of the country. He said that, ''India is set to become a prominent semiconductor manufacturing hub.''
Prof. Arun Kumar Singh (Head, SRIC) welcomed the resource person and esteemed guests at the portals of PEC. He also gave an overview of the seminar. He shed light on the need and requirement of semiconductors in the field of research & innovation of the country. He explained that Semiconductors had played a huge role in fabrication of electronic devices. In the last 50 years, semiconductor technology has made electronic devices smaller, faster and more reliable. This Semiconductor Fab inaugurated by the Prime Minister is a big step towards fastening the pace of technological advancement of the country.
Mr. Gopal Krishan Bajaj, shared his insights on the working of semiconductors. He shed light on the making of semiconductor chips, the Semiconductor Value Chain, and on the Role of Semiconductors in India. He initiated the talk with his journey and then displayed an AV depicting the making & working of semiconductor chips in a semiconductor lab. He also shared the evolution trends of technology nodes for Si Transistors and of Logic Devices. Lasty, he said that, ''In India Semiconductor Technology is the Future.''
Director, Prof. (Dr.) Baldev Setia, congratulated the organisers for this event. He specifically complemented Prof. Arun Kumar Singh for this initiative in the Semiconductor Mission of the Country.
Registrar, Col. R.M. Joshi, emphasized on the need of semiconductors in the country. He said, "The vision of Viksit Bharat @2047 can only be achieved by the participated of youth and young minds of the country.'' He also shed light on the dedication, determination and capacity of talented Indian Minds at the Global level. Lastly, he said that, ''India Value its people and its work-force.'' In this semiconductor industry, a large number of people will get employment through this mission. He also thanked Prof. Arun Kumar Singh for organising this seminar.
