Mohali, March 7, 2025- Chairman of Punjab Mandi Board, S. Harchand Singh Barsat made a surprise visit to Sabzi Mandi, Jalandhar Maqsudan today. During this, the ongoing work of cleaning the garbage heaps in the Sabzi Mandi was reviewed. The Chairman was given detailed information about the cleaning work going on in the Mandi by the officials. The officials said that about 65 percent of the work of disposal of garbage heaps in the Mandi has been completed through mechanical separator machine and the cleaning work will be completed soon by segregating the remaining garbage heaps.
On this occasion, S. Bursat directed the officials to ensure cleanliness in the Mandi and clear these heaps of garbage as soon as possible. He said that there should not be any kind of negligence in completing these works, because it is the responsibility of all of us to provide a clean environment to the people.
On this occasion, the Chairman of Punjab Mandi Board said that good environment and good food and drink are very important to live a good life. Therefore, everyone should ensure cleanliness in the environment and cleanliness around them. He said that thousands of people keep coming and going in the Mandis of the state. Therefore, it is very important to provide a good environment to the people, keeping this in mind, special efforts are being made by the Mandi Board to ensure cleanliness in the Mandis of the state and cleanliness campaign is also being run.
He said that heaps of garbage have been lying in Sabzi Mandi, Jalandhar Maqsudan for a long time, due to which people are very upset. Therefore, to dispose of these heaps of garbage, a mechanical separator machine has been installed here, so that the heaps of garbage can be segregated and disposed of and a good and clean environment can be provided to the people.
Sabzi Mandi, Jalandhar Maqsudan is spread over an area of about 58.4 acres. Thousands of people come here daily to buy and sell vegetables. The heaps of garbage that have been accumulating in the market for about 25 years have spread over about 4 acres. People coming to the market are also very upset with this filth. To solve their problems, an initiative was taken by Mr. Barsat and a mechanical separator machine was installed in the vegetable market, so that the heaps of garbage can be segregated and cleanliness in the market can be ensured.
