Mahilpur - Former President and MC of Mahilpur Municipal Council Bibi Gurmeet Kaur Bains passed away on 16 December 2023. A look at her life reveals that she was a successful administrator and a dedicated teacher. He took many students to great heights in his lifetime. While holding the post of CHT, he got the honor of making Government Primary School Mahilpur the first rank school of the district. He was so devoted to his profession that he never slacked off in the discharge of his duties. Helping the needy children and giving them the right direction was his main goal. Students are always humbled by their dedication. Working with love, respect, love, determination, courage, honesty, and determination was a characteristic of his personality.
In memory of Padma Sri Sobha Singh along with many other noble works, Khalsa College built Sobha Singh Nagar on the hill side of Mahilpur.

Similarly, Potra Shandeep has become the Punjab champion in 10m pistol shooting. Behind all these achievements is the special contribution of Bibi Gurmeet Kaur. He also continued to uphold the legacy set by Gianiji. It was in his nature to patronize literary, sports, social and cultural events and to congratulate creative thinkers. Believing in doing good to all and helping everyone in need was her whole life's work. Bibiji's footsteps will always inspire us.
                     He was born on 15th October 1937 to father Kirpal Singh and mother Sukhwant Kaur in village Rajowal district Hoshiarpur. He rendered excellent services in the education department for about 37 years and retired from the post of CHT in 1995. On the occasion of his last prayer at Gurudwara Dharamshala Mahilpur on December 25, representatives of religious, literary, cultural, political, sports and social organizations will offer flowers of respect.
