Mohali, July 11 (Jasvir Gosal) President of Rajkiya Shikshak Sangh Mohali Ravinder Singh Pappi Sidhu and General Secretary Manpreet Singh told the press that the Aam Aadmi Party, as part of its political interference, has decided to make its favourites members of the School Management Committees to be constituted for the next two years from July 15 by sending lists of their favourites to the District Education Officers instead of the elected public representatives and education workers of the area.
Whereas as per Section 21 of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, Rule 13 of Punjab Right to Free and Compulsory Education Rules, 2011 and Government Notification dated 26/04/2025, now School Management Committees are to be constituted in all government primary, secondary, higher and senior secondary schools for the next two years (2025-2027).
According to the letter issued by the Director of Education Department on July 7 in this regard, each School Management Committee will have 12 members including at least 6 women from among the parents or guardians of the students studying in the school, the Principal of the school, Member Secretary and Convener, a teacher member, an elected public representative of the area or a member nominated by him and a total of 16 members including an education worker.
But in this, while selecting the Shiksha Karmi and the elected public representative of the area or a member nominated by them, Aam Aadmi Party is fitting its political people and issuing lists to the District Education Officers and verbal messages have been received to take some specific persons as committee members. Due to which the District Education Officer is also under pressure of government orders.
Due to verbal orders that came with these lists, people from outside the village and people not associated with education are being taken in the committees and orders have been given to include graduates and people associated with education in the village by giving them political color, ignoring the graduates and people associated with education available in the village. In many districts, one education officer has been given for ten or more schools who will become a member of the management committees of all those schools. The leaders raised the question that how will such a member be able to do justice to the committees of all the schools.
At this time, leaders of the organization Charanjit Singh, Satwinder Kaur, Veena Kumari, Sarabjit Kaur, Satinderpal Kaur, Prabhleen Kaur, Harpreet Singh Bhajoli, Sandeep Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Rajesh Joshi, Navkiran Khatra, Gurpreet Singh, Amrik Singh, Arvinder Singh, Guljit Singh, Ved Prakash, Manoj Kumar, Pawan Kumar, Varinder Kumar, Sukhjinder Singh, Harpreet Dharamgarh, Baljit Singh, Darshan Singh, Baljit Singh Chumber, Kulwinder Singh, Gurveer Singh, Shamsher Singh, Sandeep Singh, Ravi Kumar etc were present.
