Karnal, September 26: Advocate Rajkumar Sharma, who has been fighting for the rights of North Haryana for the past 25 years, stated that even after two MLAs elected from North Haryana became Chief Ministers, the region has not been freed from discrimination and exploitation.
He explained that two MLAs from Karnal became Chief Ministers, but the people of Karnal and its surrounding areas did not receive the same level of development as those in Rohtak, Hisar, and Sirsa. He shared this with reporters.
Rajkumar Sharma contested the 2004 Lok Sabha elections from Karnal-Panipat on the "Ekta Shakti" party. He explained that he had helped form the Ekta Shakti party to fight for the rights of the people of this region. However, this party later fell prey to politics.
Sharma stated that this region has been a victim of backwardness since the formation of Haryana. He stated that Karnal and Kurukshetra have the potential to become the capital of Haryana, and a High Court could also be established there. However, due to weak politicians, the region's rights were snatched away.
He pointed out that neither the medical university nor the airport were completed in Karnal. The medical college here was merely a pretense, while the government hospital and medical college were a joke. A notification for a RERA court was also issued, but the court has not yet been established.
Sharma stated that Karnal and Kurukshetra have immense potential for tourism and industry, but Karnal has yet to achieve anything. He alleged that Karnal politicians only use the region for votes and do not pay attention to the region after the elections.
He saw potential in Nayab Singh Saini and said that if he received proper support and was free from pressure, he could deliver better results.
Sharma suggested that the government and the Election Commission should give the eligibility to contest the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections only to the local people, so that they can remain dedicated to their area.
