District unit of IPTA organises 82nd Foundation Day celebrations

SAS Nagar, May 26- Mohali District Unit of IPTA (Indian People’s Theatre Association), led by District President Narinderpal Singh Neena, in association with Sarghi Kala Kendra, Universal Art & Culture Welfare Society, Satkar Manch and Lokai Kala Kendra organised 82nd Foundation Day celebrations of IPTA dedicated to the theme “No War, Only Peace”.

SAS Nagar, May 26- Mohali District Unit of IPTA (Indian People’s Theatre Association), led by District President Narinderpal Singh Neena, in association with Sarghi Kala Kendra, Universal Art & Culture Welfare Society, Satkar Manch and Lokai Kala Kendra organised 82nd Foundation Day celebrations of IPTA dedicated to the theme “No War, Only Peace”. Renowned Punjabi folk singer Dolly Guleria graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. She said that IPTA is in her blood and expressed pride in being the daughter of her mother Surinder Kaur, stressing that she considers it a sacred duty to carry forward the legacy of her mother’s people-centric folk singing.
Expressing his views on the main theme “No War, Only Peace”, Chandigarh President Balkar Sidhu said that war must be avoided for a society to progress and develop, and IPTA gives the message of peace.
IPTA Punjab President Sanjeev Singh said that IPTA was established 82 years ago with the efforts of stalwarts like Prithviraj Kapoor, Kaifi Azmi and Balraj Sahni to promote peace, prosperity, equality and people-centric culture and theatre globally. He said that IPTA in Punjab was established in 1950 under the guidance of Tera Singh Chann with contributions of Surinder Kaur (folk singer), Amarjit Gurdaspuri (folk singer), Jagdish Fariyadi, Joginder Baharla, Niranjan Singh Mann, Hukam Chand Khalili and Harnam Singh Narula.
IPTA Punjab Vice President Dr. Aman Bhogal specially mentioned the contributions of Surinder Kaur (folk singer), Sheela Didi, Sheela Bhatia, Uma, Urmila, Preetma, Daljit Kaur, Rajwant Kaur Mann 'Preet,' Dr. Iqbal Kaur, Narinder Kaur, Nitasha, Mahinder Kaur, Asha, Surjit and Rajinder Kaur.
During the event, Patron of Literature and Art, SHO Phase-11 Aman also participated. He said that dedicated activists of IPTA are enthusiastically raising public issues through theatre and culture.
The event was also addressed by theatre and film actor Jagjit Sareen, activist Satwinder Kaur, General Secretary Punjabi Lekhak Sabha Chandigarh Bhupinder Malik and IPTA activists Sukhvir Pal Kaur, Gungi and Harinder Har. Theatre artists Amritpal Singh, Harkirat Singh, Sarabpreet, Gurwinder Baidwan, Raman, Navrit Singh, Harnoor Singh, Deepak Singh, Vishal Mittal and Principal Tiny Tots Harpreet Kaur also participated.
