Garhshankar- The election of Mid Day Meal Workers Union Block Garhshankar was held under the supervision of District President Asha Rani at Ka. Darshan Singh Canadian Hall Garhshankar. On this occasion, the State Secretary of the organization Kamaljit Kaur was specially present. First of all, warm tributes were paid to the great martyr of the country, Sardar Udham Singh, on his 85th martyrdom day and his unparalleled sacrifice for the nation was remembered.

While taking stock of the past struggles of the Garhshankar block, the achievements and shortcomings of the organization were noted and a pledge was made to struggle for the strength of the organization in the future. After the dissolution of the block unit by Block President Soma Rani, District President Asha Rani presented the panel of the new team, which was unanimously passed by the members present amidst applause.
Soma Rani was elected as the president, Manjit Kaur as the secretary, Neelam Hajipur as the vice president, Paramjit Kaur as the finance secretary, Sunita Rani as the assistant secretary, Manjit Kaur Garhshankar as the organizing secretary and Rekha Khurali, Anju Binewal, Seema Khanpur, Sandeep Kaur Birampur as the members. Congratulating the new team, State General Secretary Kamaljit Kaur said that the mid-day meal workers need a strong struggle to get their demands met. The AAP government has also not fulfilled any of the demands of the mid-day meal workers, only their demands are being met with slogans.
They demanded that the mid-day meal workers be regularized by bringing them under the ambit of minimum wage, be given uniforms twice a year, identity cards be made, medical and maternity leave facilities be provided, insurance cover of at least twenty lakhs be provided, and the order to open accounts in Canara Bank be withdrawn. To achieve all these demands, a grand state rally will be held in Sangrur on August 16, in which thousands of mid-day meal workers from all over Punjab will participate with full enthusiasm and will try to wake up the sleeping Bhagwant Mann government from its slumber.
On this occasion, Garhshankar Sham Sunder Kapoor from the Punjab Subordinate Services Federation unit and Ram Ji Das Chauhan, Shingara Ram Bhajjal and Balwant Ram from the Pensioners Association fully supported the demands of the Mid-Day Meal Workers Union and assured the organization of all kinds of support.
