Hoshiarpur:- An important meeting on stubble management was held at the SDM office under the chairmanship of SDM Hoshiarpur Gursimranjit Kaur. All Tehsildars/Naib Tehsildars, Agricultural Development Officers, Police Station Incharges, Cluster and Nodal Officers, District Fire Officers, Health Department, Forest Department and other concerned department officials were present in the meeting.
The department-wise responsibilities were clarified in the meeting to prevent stubble burning incidents. The SDM directed the officials to maintain special vigil in those villages where there were more incidents of stubble burning last year. He said that farmers should be ensured the availability of stubble management machinery and awareness programs should be run regularly at the village level.
He clarified that stubble burning is harmful to the environment as well as public health. Therefore, constant contact should be maintained with the representatives of the Panchayats, numberdars and farmers. The SDM directed the police department to immediately report any incident of stubble burning.
The District Fire Officer was instructed to immediately inform the control room in case of any fire and to be fully prepared for relief operations.
SDM Gursimranjit Kaur said that success in stubble management is possible only with coordination between all departments. She appealed to the officers to take this work as a public awareness campaign so that the goal of making the district stubble free can be achieved.
