Patiala- During wars and disasters, according to the International Geneva Convention, the Red Cross Society makes commendable efforts to assist, protect, rescue and help the victims in every country of the world under the flag of the Red Cross or Red Cross Society.
Because according to the Red Cross Geneva Convention, during wars and disasters, to respect the flag or symbol of the Red Cross, no army or terrorist attacks buildings, vehicles and volunteers with the symbol of the Red Cross.
Because the Red Cross respects all religions, countries, castes and races and works tirelessly to save the victims with humanity, love, compassion and respect, this information was given by Mr. Kaka Ram Verma, retired training supervisor of the Indian Red Cross Society, on the occasion of Geneva Convention Day at Punjab Education College, Raipur.
He said that in 1863, with the efforts of Mr. Jean Henry Dunant, the International Red Cross Society was established in the city of Geneva, Switzerland. According to the Geneva Convention, Red Cross volunteers provide first aid, food, water, medicine and protection to the victims during wars, disasters and epidemics.
At present, 50 lakh Red Cross volunteers are ready to help the victims in 192 countries of the world. During wars, the protection and treatment of injured or prisoner soldiers and foreigners (prisoners of war) is being done through the Red Cross for their return home. Like Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, during the wars with the Mughals, he had sent the injured soldiers back to their homes safely by providing them water and ointments through Bhai Ghanhai Ji.
Kaka Ram Verma said that the Red Cross Society in India was established by the British in 1920 after the First World War. Teachers doing B&D were given information about first aid, CPR, recovery position, ventilator artificial respiration and care of the injured. During wars, they were given information about how to avoid the sounds caused by bombs, missiles, poisonous gases, smoke and fire of explosions. They were also informed about the use of first aid box and fire extinguisher cylinders prepared by the teachers.
Assistant Superintendent of Police, Punjab Police Traffic Education Cell, Ram Saran motivated the students to follow traffic rules, laws and regulations, avoid parking, overtaking, cyber, drugs, bad friends and crimes. Principal Dr. Bhupinder Kaur, Vice Principal Charanjit Singh and teachers expressed their gratitude and said that in future during natural and man-made disasters, we all must take training in disaster management, civil defence, first aid, fire safety and home nursing to protect ourselves and help the victims.
Students going abroad must take training in disaster management, civil defence, first aid, fire safety and home nursing as medical facilities for migrants abroad are poor and their family members are not nearby to help them.
