Chandigarh, June 12 - The privatization of the electricity department of UT Chandigarh has shown its real and cruel face. In village Buterla, the electricity was cut off for several hours last night, causing inconvenience to the people and children and the elderly continued to suffer throughout the night.
The above information was given by Hardeep Singh Buterla, Municipal Councilor from Ward No. 30, while talking to the media today. Buterla has also sent a written letter to the Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria about this huge inconvenience of the people.
Councilor Buterla said that in this season of extreme heat, he tried to call the concerned Junior Engineer, SDO to get the power supply started, which suddenly stopped on the midnight of June 11 and 12, but no one was available.
He said that this problem has come after the privatization of the electricity department because the officers and employees of the private company have nothing to do with the problems of the people. 
Before this, government officers and employees were permanently posted on their duty and the common people had easy access to them. The Chandigarh Electricity Department was performing its duties to the full satisfaction of the residents and was earning huge profits.
Now the private company has shown its ugly face in the very first summer season. This was the first time that any member of the department did not pay attention to the requests of the people despite the power supply being stopped in village Buterla.
 Councilor Buterla said that by privatization of the Chandigarh Electricity Department, the BJP government has made its cronies happy but on the contrary, it has cheated the people of Chandigarh.
Buterla said that due to such anti-people policies, the people of Chandigarh will teach a lesson to the BJP in the upcoming elections.
