
Stock Market: The stock market fell for the second day
Mumbai, May 28- The stock market fell for the second day after ITC shares fell after British multinational company BAT Plc reduced its stake. At the close of the stock market, the BSE Sensex fell 239.31 points or 0.29 percent to close at 81,312.32. However, during the day, it fell 307.61 points or 0.37 percent to 81,244.02.

At the close of the stock market, the BSE Sensex fell 239.31 points or 0.29 percent to close at 81,312.32. However, during the day, it fell 307.61 points or 0.37 percent to 81,244.02.
On the other hand, the 50-issue NSE Nifty closed down 73.75 points or 0.30 percent at 24,752.45. Among Sensex stocks, ITC fell over 3 per cent after BAT PLC sold its 2.5 per cent stake in the group for Rs 12,927 crore (US$ 1.51 billion) through a block deal.
Meanwhile, IndusInd Bank, Nestle, UltraTech Cement, Mahindra & Mahindra, Power Grid, Asian Paints, Sun Pharma and Tech Mahindra also lagged behind. On the other hand, Bajaj Finance, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, Adani Ports and HCL Tech were among the gainers.
The rupee, meanwhile, remained steady at 85.40 against the US dollar.
