SAS Nagar, May 26- Former Chairman of Kharar Market Committee Harkesh Chand Sharma Machhli Kalan said that due to power supply disruption in the villages of the area for several days, farmers are facing difficulty in irrigating their crops.
The senior Congress leader said that for more than a week, power supply to the fields in Bhago Mazra, Baironpur, Maujpur, Bharatpur, Shyampur, Landran, Raipur Kalan and other villages has been stopped, due to which the vegetable vines of the farmers and the green fodder sown for the animals have started drying up. He said that due to the scorching heat, crops require more water, but due to lack of electricity, the tubewells are closed.
He said that the time for sowing paddy is still left, but if the power supply is not smooth from now onwards, the situation will be even worse in the coming time. He said that when farmers of the villages call the electricity department officials for information regarding power supply, the concerned officials do not even consider it appropriate to pick up the phone.
