Every Punjabi should become a warrior in the war against drugs: Harjot Singh Bains.

Hoshiarpur- Punjab School Education, Higher Education, Technical Education and Public Relations Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that every Punjabi should become a warrior in the war against drugs, only then our dream of a colorful Punjab will come true. He was addressing the district level function of 'Pehredaar Pinddaan' committees formed under the "Nashe Par War" campaign being run by the Punjab Government to eliminate drugs in Hoshiarpur today as the chief guest.

During this time, Cabinet Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh, Deputy Speaker Jai Krishna Singh Raudi, Lok Sabha member Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal, MLA Hoshiarpur Brahm Shankar Jimpa, MLA Tanda Urmur Jasvir Singh Raja Gill, MLA Dasuha Karamveer Singh Ghumman, MLA Chabbewal Dr. Ishank Kumar and Mukerian constituency in-charge Professor GS Multani were also present with him.
Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that people's support is necessary to defeat the forces that are destroying the youth of Punjab. Addressing the 'Gram Rakshaks' present, he said that they are the first line of defence of the government. He said that now our aim is to take this campaign against drugs to every household.
Accusing the previous governments of pushing the youth of Punjab towards drugs, he said that the government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is fully committed to eradicate this stigma. He said that the Chief Minister has given full powers to the Punjab Police and has directed that those involved in drug trafficking should not be spared under any circumstances.
Cabinet Minister Bains, while criticising the policies of the Central Government on the water issue, said that the prosperity of Punjab depends on agriculture and the basis of agriculture is water. But the policies of the Central Government are pointing towards a deep conspiracy to snatch away the water of Punjab. Due to these policies, the farmers of Punjab are already facing unbearable problems and now the rights of Punjab are being openly looted.
He emphasized that under the leadership of the Chief Minister, it has been ensured that every village in Punjab is supplied not only drinking water but also water for agriculture through canals. He made it clear that the government will take every necessary step to ensure the safety and conservation of Punjab's water resources.
Referring to the apathy of the previous governments in the education sector, he said that thousands of schools did not even have toilets and boundary walls, which is now being removed. He said that through Punjab Education Revolution, government schools have been made progressive by providing all modern facilities. Earlier, Dr. Ravjot Singh said that the Punjab Government is fighting a decisive battle under the 'War on Drugs' campaign and drug smugglers will not be spared under any circumstances.
He said that we all have to work together for the prosperity of Punjab. On the issue of water, he said that the Central Government has always ignored the interests of Punjab, while Punjab has played a progressive role in the security and development of the country. He also praised Cabinet Minister Harjot Bains for his extraordinary work in the education sector.
Deputy Speaker of Punjab Assembly Jai Krishan Singh Raudi said that the government is leaving no stone unturned for the welfare of the people. He said that a massive campaign is being run for the elimination of drug abuse in the state and today it is the moral responsibility of all of us to take this message to every village.
Lok Sabha member Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal said that public participation is very important in this fight against drug abuse. He emphasized that Hoshiarpur De-addiction and Rehabilitation Center is one of the progressive institutions of Punjab, which is playing an important role in the rehabilitation of drug-affected persons.
He clarified that the Punjab government is running a massive campaign for the elimination of drug abuse in the state, while the central government is working against the interests of the state by challenging the water rights of Punjab. He said in clear words that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is not going to bow down to any kind of pressure policy of the Center.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain gave detailed information about the activities being carried out by the district administration in connection with the campaign against drugs, the works to be done by the Gram Raksha Samiti in the coming time and the work of de-addiction and rehabilitation centers. SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik highlighted the action taken by the district police against drug smugglers and the awareness campaign. During this, a play depicting the ill effects of drugs was also presented.
On this occasion, Vice Chairman of Punjab Industrial Development Corporation Harminder Singh Bakshi, Mayor Surinder Kumar, Chairperson of District Planning Committee Karamjit Kaur, Chairman of Nagar Sudhar Trust Gurwinder Singh Pabla, Chairman of Market Committee Hoshiarpur Jaspal Singh Chechi, Senior Deputy Mayor Praveen Saini, Deputy Mayor Ranjit Chaudhary, Zonal Coordinator of Nasha Mukti Morcha Nayan Chhabra, District Coordinator Satwant Singh Sian, besides other dignitaries of civil and police administration were also present.
