
Sensex, Nifty rise for 6th consecutive day.
Mumbai, April 22 - Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty closed higher on Tuesday, leading to a sixth consecutive day of gains on foreign fund inflows and buying in banking stocks. The 30-share BSE Sensex closed 187.09 points, or 0.24 per cent, higher at 79,595.59. It had gained 415.8 points, or 0.52 per cent, to 79,824.30 during the day. On the other hand, the NSE Nifty closed 41.70 points, or 0.17 per cent, higher at 24,167.25.

ITC, Hindustan Unilever, Mahindra & Mahindra, HDFC Bank, Eternal, Kotak Mahindra Bank, State Bank of India and ICICI Bank were the top gainers from the Sensex pack. IndusInd Bank, Power Grid, Bharti Airtel, Infosys and Bajaj Finserv lagged behind.
