SAS Nagar, March 20, 2025: A state-level awareness programme on World Oral Health Day was organised at the Medical College here today in which Mr. Kumar Rahul, Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Department participated as the Chief Guest.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Kumar Rahul said that the day is celebrated across the world to create awareness about good dental health. He said that quality dental healthcare is being provided in government health facilities across the state and people should visit these facilities for any kind of dental problem. Mr. Rahul said that the National Oral Health Programme has taken consistent steps in Punjab during the last few years.
Punjab is poised to inaugurate 5 advanced dental implant centres in district hospitals across the state. Dental implant science training has been started for all MO Dental posted at DH level to make it a reality. Also, dental OPG machines have been installed in DH Mohali and Amritsar. Besides, Stop Oral Cancer Screening Project has been launched in the state in partnership with National Oral Health Programme and ongoing NCD campaign at national level.
At the event, dentists were felicitated for good performance. The doctors included Dr Abu Bakar, Dr Harpreet Kaur, Dr Parminder Singh, Dr Harmandeep Singh, Dr Gurdev Singh from hospitals of Malaud, Mohali, Lopoke, Khaila Kalan, Kapurthala respectively. A video of state level awareness activities was also shown and an awareness rally was taken out by students of a nursing college.
