
Advancements in orthopaedics a boon for ageing population: Principal Secretary, Health, Kumar Rahul

He was delivering his keynote address at the 29th Annual Punjab Orthopaedic Association Conference held at AIIMS Mohali on March 1 and 2.

He was delivering his keynote address at the 29th Annual Punjab Orthopaedic Association Conference held at AIIMS Mohali on March 1 and 2.
He acknowledged the rapid advancements in medical technology and hoped that platforms like the POA Conference would promote collaboration and innovation in improving patient outcomes. Further, he emphasised the importance of medical professionals staying at the forefront of knowledge and practice to meet the ever-increasing healthcare needs of society.
The keynote conference saw stalwarts of the field discuss the latest trends in joint replacement, arthroscopy and sports medicine, paediatric orthopaedics and oncology. The conference allowed the exchange of knowledge, showcasing the latest advances in orthopaedic care, surgical techniques and research.
It also served as a platform for discussion and debate on current and future challenges in orthopaedic medicine, such as the increasing burden of musculoskeletal disorders, the rise of advanced robotic surgery and the integration of new technologies such as 3D printing in clinical practice. Dr Avnish Kumar, Director, Medical Education and Research, in his address spoke about the importance of such workshops and conferences in improving the expertise of medical professionals.
Dr Bhavneet Bharti, Director Principal, AIIMS Mohali, Dr Anupam Mahajan, Organising Secretary expressed their satisfaction at the outcome of the conference, noting the overwhelming participation of the delegates and their enthusiasm in engaging with leading experts in the field. This prestigious event was organized by the Department of Orthopaedics, AIMS Mohali and AIMS Mohali Orthopaedic Research and Educational Society and was attended by more than 350 orthopaedic surgeons from Punjab, Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Jammu and Kashmir.
