
Vigilance Bureau catches Naib Tehsildar's reader red-handed while taking bribe of Rs 8000
Hoshiarpur 27 February- The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested Alok, an employee of the Revenue Department posted as the reader of Naib Tehsildar of Hoshiarpur, red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 8000 during the campaign launched against corruption in the state.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said that the said accused has been arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by a resident of Shimlapuri, Ludhiana.
He further informed that the complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau and informed that under the SARFAESI Act, the Naib Tehsildar had given possession of a property to his firm and in return for sending the report of this possession to the Deputy Commissioner's office, the said reader had demanded a bribe of Rs. 10,000. On the complainant's request, the said accused agreed to take a bribe of Rs. 8,000.
The spokesperson further informed that after the preliminary investigation of this complaint, the Vigilance Bureau team laid a trap and caught the said accused red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs. 8,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
He informed that a case has been registered in this regard at the Jalandhar Range Police Station of the Vigilance Bureau under the Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigation is underway to ascertain the role of other persons in this case.
