Una, June 5- Tehsildar Una Vipin Thakur held an important meeting with the officials of the concerned departments regarding the preparations for the state level mega mock drill to be held in sub-division Una on June 6. Vipin Thakur said that this mock drill is being organized by the Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority. Its purpose is to evaluate the emergency response capabilities of the district administration, various departments and the general public in the event of a hypothetical disaster like earthquake.
Vipin Thakur informed that two scenarios have been included under the mock drill. The first will be about the situation of fire and structural damage in the petroleum bulk storage unit at the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) terminal at Pekhubela. The second scenario will be about fire and structural damage in the Government Industrial Training Institute, Una (Student Building).
He said that as soon as the hypothetical message related to earthquake disaster is received from the state headquarters, the hooter will be blown in the Deputy Commissioner's office. Along with this, fire brigade vehicles will depart with sirens at the identified locations and prompt response will be ensured as per the prescribed disaster management plan.
The Tehsildar appealed to the local citizens to practice the necessary precautions in case of a disaster like earthquake during the mock drill. As soon as the siren sounds, follow the primary steps like going under a strong table or furniture, covering the head with hands and reaching an open space safely. He directed all the departments of sub-division Una to ensure active and dedicated participation in the mock drill so that better management and prompt response can be given at the time of any disaster.

Mock drill will be conducted at these places-
He informed that this mock drill will be organized in various sub-divisions of the district, where relief and rescue activities will be practiced based on different hypothetical disaster situations. Apart from Una sub-division, the landslide situation will be taken as the basis at Pindi Das Ashram and Eye Hospital located on Amb-Nehria Road in Amb sub-division. Similarly, the incident of fire at AK Puri HP Petrol Pump on Gagret-Hoshiarpur Road in Gagret sub-division and structural damage and fire of factory building at Nestle India Limited premises at Tahliwal in Haroli sub-division have been visualised.
On this occasion, BMO Una Dr Ram Paul Sharma, Coordinator DDMA Una Dheeraj Kumar, Executive Officer MC Mehtapur Varsha Chaudhary, SDO of Municipal Corporation Una Rajinder Saini, Veterinary Officer Dr Deepshikha Saini, Inspector DFCC Una Rajni Kalia and other concerned officers were present.
