Hoshiarpur- During the district level function organized at the local Government College on the occasion of 134th birth anniversary of Baba Sahib Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, students of various educational institutions said that due to Dr. BR Ambedkar Post Matric Scholarship Scheme, they have got the opportunity to pursue higher education, for which they are grateful to the Punjab Government. Cabinet Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh said that the Punjab Government will take every necessary step for the welfare of the students.
He said that in the last few years, the number of beneficiary students in the state has increased under Dr. BR Ambedkar Post Matric Scholarship Scheme. He said that the Punjab Government is releasing funds from time to time under this scheme. Sandeep Kaur, MA Music student in Government College, while expressing her views, said that Dr. BR Ambedkar Post Matric Scholarship Scheme has made her dream of music education come true.
They said that it was difficult for them to pursue higher education due to financial constraints in the family, but the guidance of teachers and scholarship scheme made it easy. Hrithik Thakti, a student of Government ITI, said that his father does a simple job and pursuing higher education seemed an impossible task for him.
He said that when he came to know about Dr. BR Ambedkar Post Matric Scholarship Scheme, he took advantage of it and started his ITI training and now he is about to complete his course. All three students said that the Punjab Government has made their dream of education come true by releasing the fees from time to time under Dr. BR Ambedkar Post Matric Scholarship Scheme, for which the government deserves congratulations.
Prof. Harjinder Pal, Nodal Officer of Dr. BR Ambedkar Post Matric Scholarship Scheme, while addressing the gathering, said that this scheme is very beneficial for needy students. He said that the Punjab Government was spreading this scheme at the grassroots level by organising camps, seminars etc. in educational institutions from time to time and was also providing information through notice boards, which eligible students should take advantage of.
