Hoshiarpur: On the occasion of World Health Day, the Health Department, Hoshiarpur, organized a rally on the theme "Follow the path of rights - my health is my right" from ANM Training School, Hoshiarpur. Which was flagged off by Honorable Civil Surgeon Dr. Pawan Kumar Shagotra.
During this, Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr. Kamlesh Kumari, District Vaccination Officer Dr. Seema Garg, District Health Officer Dr. Jatinder Bhatia, Senior Medical Officer Dr. Swati Shimar, District Epidemiologist Dr. Jagdeep Singh, Deputy Mass Media Officer Ramandeep Kaur, Counselor Sarabjit Singh and Sarabjit Kaur from ICTC from Civil Hospital, HI Tarsem Singh and Principal of ANM Training School Mrs. Sukhwinder Kaur, all the staff and students participated.
During this, Civil Surgeon Dr. Pawan Kumar said that AIDS is one of the biggest threats to humans. The only way to avoid this is to get complete and accurate information about HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. Because only with this knowledge can one save one's life from AIDS. With good food and timely medication, one can live a long life. Sharing information with the students, she said that the immune system (defense system) becomes weak due to the HIV virus. As a result, the susceptibility to many infections, cancer and other diseases increases. Which only people with a healthy immune system can fight.
Dr. Swati said that people affected by HIV/AIDS are discriminated against by the society. Therefore, many people do not get their HIV tested or do not take medicine due to the fear of being rejected by the society. Rather, HIV does not spread for any other reason than the above four reasons. Therefore, one should sympathize with the HIV-infected persons and provide full cooperation to their family members and other persons.
Deputy Mass Media Officer, while talking about the myth spread among the general public, said that it is not transmitted by hugging, shaking hands, sharing toilets, sharing dishes or any such thing. Counselor Sarabjit Singh, while sharing information about the treatment of HIV, said that the government has established ART centers in all district hospitals and sub-divisional hospitals. Where patients get free medicine. HIV treatment should be started immediately if found positive for HIV.
