Una district tops in 'safe construction model'

Una, October 14 - Una district topped the junior category of the state-level competition organized on 'Safe Construction Model'. Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu honored Chahat, a student of Government Senior Secondary School Kangar of Haroli subdivision of Una district and student Rajveer with a cash prize of Rs 10,000, memento and certificate for securing first place in 'Safe Construction Model' at a state-level function organized on the occasion of International Disaster Reduction Day 'Samartha-2024'.

Una, October 14 - Una district topped the junior category of the state-level competition organized on 'Safe Construction Model'. Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu honored Chahat, a student of Government Senior Secondary School Kangar of Haroli subdivision of Una district and student Rajveer with a cash prize of Rs 10,000, memento and certificate for securing first place in 'Safe Construction Model' at a state-level function organized on the occasion of International Disaster Reduction Day 'Samartha-2024'. This function was organized on Monday at Gaiety Theater, Ridge Ground, Shimla. Chahat is a student of class IX and Rajveer is a student of class VII. Both of them had prepared the award-winning 'Safe Construction Model' together.
It is noteworthy that under the Samarth-2024 campaign, 'Safe Construction Model' competitions were organized in junior and senior categories in school and college classes in educational institutions of all districts of the state to increase awareness about disaster management. The best model was selected at the district level and sent for the state level competition.
The state level competition was held on October 7 at Centre for Science Learning and Creativity, Science Museum, Shoghi, in which students from all 12 districts participated. Chahat and Rajveer of Kangar School secured first position in the competition, while the team from Chamba secured second position and the team from Kullu secured third position. The winning teams were awarded cash prizes of Rs. 10,000, Rs. 7,500 and Rs. 5,000 respectively.District Nodal Officer (Empire) Pushpa Rani accompanied Team Una in the competition.
Kangar School Principal Sneh Lata, Science teacher Meena Rana, and school staff expressed happiness over this achievement and called it a matter of pride for everyone. Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal praised the children and said that these young talents have not only brought laurels to their school but have also inspired the entire district. This success shows how young thinking and creativity can contribute to our social security as well as pave the way for solving problems.
