Devigarh (Patiala), August 22 - Punjab Water Resources Department Minister Chetan Singh Joda Majra has announced that to save hundreds of villages of Sanaur constituency from the havoc of Tangri river, farmers will be relieved from this crisis by marking the Tangri river and finding a permanent solution. He was addressing a gathering of representatives of farmer organizations and local residents gathered under the leadership of constituency MLA Harmeet Singh Pathan Majra at Gurdwara Bhagat Dhannaji near Tangri river on Devigarh-Pehowa road today.

He was addressing a gathering of representatives of farmer organizations and local residents gathered under the leadership of constituency MLA Harmeet Singh Pathan Majra at Gurdwara Bhagat Dhannaji near Tangri river on Devigarh-Pehowa road today.
Chetan Singh Joda Majra said that the Punjab government does not believe in lareyaan like the previous governments, but shows results, so immediately after the paddy season, the Tangri river will be marked and its wing-wall will be straightened. He said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is serious about saving the farmers and their crops from floods permanently, for which the Water Resources Department has been directed to prepare a proposal for a permanent solution to the Tangri river. Jodha Majra said that apart from Tangri, the water of Ghaggar, Markanda and other rivers also causes deaths, for which the Punjab government is completely serious about finding a permanent solution. He said that a delegation of farmers had given a demand letter to MLA Harmeet Singh Pathan Majra that Tangri river should be cleaned because Haryana has prepared a project to divert the water of other rivers from Jansui Head to SYL and put it in Tangri river. Due to which Tangri river will cause more damage in the near future. He said that if needed, Tangri will be straightened by acquiring land.
Water Resources Minister Chetan Singh Jodha Majra held a meeting with MLA Harmeet Singh Pathan Majra, farmers' organizations, ADC (J) Kanchan, SDM Manjit Kaur, Chief Engineer Vigilance Pawan Kapoor of Water Resources Department (Drainage) and Executive Engineer Jasdeep Kaur Javandha and discussed about the permanent solution of Tangri. He directed that after harvesting paddy, digging should be done by marking the lining of the river.
MLA of Sanur constituency Sardar Harmeet Singh Pathan Majra said that the previous governments never paid attention to the decades old issue of Sanur constituency. Pathan Majra said that when he put forward all the issues of the constituency before Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Cabinet Minister Jodha Majra, they immediately agreed to hold this meeting and today they assure the people that all the issues will be permanently resolved. The MLA appealed to the farmers that when the land will be acquired after marking it, they should rise above party politics and support the government, so that the Tangri problem can be solved.
