Garhshankar- Today Lal Jhanda Bhatta Workers Union CITU staged a dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office regarding the demands of the kiln workers. Addressing the dharna, Punjab head of Bhatta workers Mahinder Kumar, Baddoan district head Dhanpat Baldev Raj, Satnor Khet Mazdoor's Punjab leader Gurmesh Singh said that the condition of the workers in the kilns is bad, there is no arrangement for medical education, rates are not being increased according to the rising inflation.
The Labor Department called the owners twice, but no talks took place. The leaders said that if the Labor Department does not resolve the demands of the owners, the struggle will be intensified. Speaking about the government, he said that the government is not making any effort to save the small industry, due to the closure of which crores of workers are becoming unemployed.
The government should make its contribution to save the small industry. The leaders further said that on 20th May, a nationwide Chakka Jam is being organized to abolish the labor quota, stop the contract system, implement Factory Act on kiln workers, stop work through outsourcing, and make the minimum wage Rs 26,000.
In Hoshiarpur district too, the Mazdoor Sabha will organize a united Chakka Jam. On this occasion, Pramod Data Ram Aadesh Tirath Ram Ram Niwas Kamal Badri Nath also addressed the gathering. At the end, a memorandum of demands was given to the Assistant Labor Commissioner Hoshiarpur regarding the demands of kiln workers.
