
Full vigilance should be used to stop the flow of illicit liquor during the Lok Sabha elections - Komal Mittal
Hoshiarpur - A meeting was held with officials of Excise Department and Bottling Plants under the leadership of District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal and SSP Hoshiarpur Surendra Lamba to conduct Lok Sabha Elections 2024 in a free, fair and peaceful manner. Meanwhile, the District Election Officer and SSP directed the police officers and the Excise Department to unite and work vigilantly as a team, so as to prevent the flow of illicit liquor during the elections.
Hoshiarpur - A meeting was held with officials of Excise Department and Bottling Plants under the leadership of District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal and SSP Hoshiarpur Surendra Lamba to conduct Lok Sabha Elections 2024 in a free, fair and peaceful manner. Meanwhile, the District Election Officer and SSP directed the police officers and the Excise Department to unite and work vigilantly as a team, so as to prevent the flow of illicit liquor during the elections.
He said that if illegal liquor is recovered anywhere and its wires are connected to the district, then action should be taken against the concerned responsible people. He further said that full vigilance should also be maintained at inter-district and inter-state border points. He said that strict action should be taken against the people who prepare illegal liquor. He instructed the officials to ensure effective action against the persons selling/trafficking illegal or fake liquor.
Komal Mittal asked to keep vigil on dilapidated buildings, marriage palaces, godowns and other suspicious places with liquor stores. He also appealed to the people that if they have any information regarding illegal liquor anywhere, they should inform the police department or the excise department. He said the identity of the informer will be kept confidential. Similarly, if alcohol or any other intoxicating substance is being distributed to influence the voters, it should be reported immediately. He said that people can report it through the C-Vigil app. He said that action is taken within 100 minutes on complaints received through the C-Vigil app. Additional Deputy Commissioner (c) Rahul Chaba, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Dr. Amandeep Kaur, SP Manoj Thakur, SDM Garhshankar Shivraj Singh Ball, SDM Hoshiarpur Preetinder Singh Bains, Election Tehsildar Sarabjit Singh, Kanungo Deepak Kumar besides Excise Department officials were also present.
