Patiala, June 25 - Anaj Mandi Police arrested a drug smuggler and recovered 1500 capsules of drugs from his possession. The accused named Rajesh Kumar (27) was caught when he was standing under DMW bridge waiting for a customer. He is also wanted in a case of drug trafficking in Tripari police station in Patiala.
The team under the supervision of Shaminder Singh, in-charge of CIA staff Patiala, raided and arrested him. There were already 12 cases pending against Rakesh Kumar alias Bachi, a resident of Hari Nagar Focal Point. SSP Varun Sharma said that after registering 12 police cases, the accused was also wanted in a drug trafficking case registered in Tripri in May 2024.
CIA Staff SI Justin Sadiq and his team have arrested another drug smuggler, identified as Naveen Kumar resident of Bhim Nagar Gate, from Lahori Gate police station area. This 50-year-old accused is the seventh pass, who started smuggling drugs while working. A case of drug trafficking was registered against this accused in June 2024 in Lahori Gate police station, but as soon as he came out on bail, he started drug trafficking again. This accused has been arrested with 610 drug capsules near Jhal Sahib Gurdwara Sahib. The SSP said that during the police remand of these two accused, they will be questioned as to from whom they got these capsules.
