He said that during rains roads become slippery, visibility decreases and even a small negligence can cause a major accident. Therefore, it is the duty of every driver to remain safe himself and also take care of the safety of others.
The Superintendent of Police said that during rains, driving at high speed, overtaking in a hurry, applying sudden brakes and ignoring traffic rules are the main causes of accidents. Always drive the vehicle at a controlled speed and maintain sufficient distance from the vehicle running ahead, so that the vehicle can be stopped safely in any emergency situation.
He appealed to two-wheeler drivers to wear helmets and four-wheeler drivers and all passengers to mandatorily use seat belts. Keep headlights on while driving during rains, use indicators correctly and keep wipers in correct condition, so that the vehicle can be driven safely even in low visibility.
The Superintendent of Police said to avoid passing through waterlogged routes. If it is necessary to pass through such a route, first estimate the depth of the water, because there may be potholes, open manholes or other obstacles in the water. Do not try to drive the vehicle in fast flowing water at all.
He appealed to drivers not to use mobile phones while driving, not to drive after consuming alcohol or any intoxicating substance and to follow traffic signals and instructions of police personnel. During rains, take special care of pedestrians, elderly, children and cyclists on the road and give them opportunity to pass safely.
The Superintendent of Police also said that before starting the journey, ??????????? check the brakes, tyres, headlights, indicators, wipers and other essential equipments of the vehicle. If the weather becomes extremely bad and visibility becomes very low, then stop at a safe place and wait for the weather to become normal. Avoid unnecessary travel.
