Punjab Has No Ground for BJPs Communal Politics Says MP Kang
Majri/SAS Nagar, August 19, 2026:- Member of Parliament from Sri Anandpur Sahib, S. Malvinder Singh Kang, today said that there was no place for the BJP’s communal politics on the sacred soil of Punjab, as the people of the state have always upheld the values of communal harmony, brotherhood and democratic traditions.
Interacting with the media during his visit to villages of the Kharar Assembly Constituency, which forms part of the Sri Anandpur Sahib Parliamentary Constituency, MP Kang said that despite repeatedly invoking the name of Bhagwan Shri Ram, the BJP had failed to take exemplary action against those accused of wrongdoing in connection with the donations received for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
Referring to the Special Investigation Team’s clean chit to the two trustees named in connection with the alleged misappropriation of donations, MP Kang said that the development was on expected lines and alleged that the BJP was playing with the faith and devotion of Ram devotees. He said that the people of Punjab would not accept attempts to divide society on communal lines, adding that the BJP’s frequent changes of its Punjab in-charges reflected its failure to establish a political foothold in the state.
MP Kang said that the people of Punjab have consistently supported healthy democratic practices and are satisfied with the performance of the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government. He said that people-oriented welfare schemes, transparent governance and holistic development remain the key priorities of the state government and are being appreciated by the people.
Terming the arrest of senior AAP leader Satyendar Jain as a mere political gimmick, MP Kang alleged that similar action in the past had resulted in political harassment rather than any meaningful outcome. He said that the latest arrest appeared to be driven by apprehension over the performance of the Bhagwant Singh Mann government in Punjab. He asserted that despite the BJP’s tall claims, the people of Punjab would not repose their faith in the party.
During his visit, MP Kang handed over drinking water tankers to residents of Andheri and Mirzapur and inaugurated open gyms at Bhagat Majra, Bari Karoran and Ward No. 7 of Naya Gaon under MPLAD funds.
He said that a total of Rs 16.75 lakh had been allocated for the provision of two drinking water tankers and the establishment of three open gyms in the villages.
Sarpanches of the concerned villages, along with local leaders and workers of the Aam Aadmi Party, were present on the occasion.
