Punjab Government Implements No Work No Pay Policy Against Protesting Employees

Chandigarh:- Taking a strict stance against striking employees, the Punjab Government has decided to implement the ‘no work, no pay’ policy. When government employees decided today to continue their ‘pen-down strike’ until September 11, the state government worked out a strategy to take strict measures. During the second phase of the employees’ strike today, government offices remained completely non-functional amid the government’s strict action.
According to sources in the Punjab Government, the ‘no work, no pay’ policy will be implemented. At the initial stage, the AAP government had issued show-cause notices to employees following the mass leave on August 27. In the second phase, the Punjab Government transferred senior leader Sukhchain Singh Khehra of the Joint Coordination Committee. Thereafter, the Punjab Government decided to increase the DA of employees recruited after July 2020 to 60 per cent.
Yesterday, the Punjab Government transferred Sushil Kumar Fauji, president of the employees’ organisation, and immediately afterwards, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora warned the employees that if the strike caused inconvenience to the general public, the government would take action according to law. Late this evening, the Punjab Government adopted the ‘no work, no pay’ stance.
