OSD Sukhveer Singh dedicates 58 lakh sports facilities at Dhuri and Bhojowali
Dhuri, August 31:- In a significant push to strengthen sports infrastructure at the grassroots level, modern sports stadiums constructed at a total cost of ?58 lakh in Dhuri and Bhojowali villages of the Dhuri Assembly Constituency were dedicated to the people today by OSD to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Sukhveer Singh. The stadium at Dhuri has been constructed at a cost of ?27 lakh, while the facility at Bhojowali has been developed at a cost of ?31 lakh.
Addressing the gatherings during the inauguration ceremonies, OSD Sukhveer Singh said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has assigned the team the responsibility of ensuring accelerated development in the Dhuri Assembly Constituency. He said that concerted efforts were being made to address the genuine needs of the people and ensure timely completion of development projects across the constituency.
He said that the Punjab Government was committed to ensuring all-round development of villages and would not allow any shortage of funds to come in the way of genuine development works. He added that issues related to village development, canal water supply and other public needs were being taken up on priority and every possible effort was being made to provide solutions at the earliest.
Giving details of the sports stadium at Dhuri, Mr. Sukhveer Singh said that the facility, developed at a cost of ?27 lakh, has been equipped with a boundary wall, fencing, walking track and lighting arrangements for sports activities during evening and night hours. He said that the modern facilities would provide the youth with a safe and conducive environment to participate in sports and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
At Bhojowali, he said that a modern sports facility had been developed at a cost of ?31 lakh to provide the village youth with better opportunities to participate in sporting activities. He said that strengthening sports infrastructure in rural areas was an important step towards channelising the energy of young people in a positive direction and encouraging them to stay away from drugs.
Highlighting the Punjab Government’s broader sports initiatives, the OSD said that modern rural playgrounds were being developed across the state to take sports facilities closer to the people. He said that such facilities would help identify and nurture sporting talent at the grassroots level and provide young players with the infrastructure needed to excel.
“Sports grounds are not merely spaces for playing games; they are centres for building healthy communities, promoting discipline and giving our youth a positive direction,” he said, adding that collective participation by villagers was essential for the proper upkeep and effective utilisation of these facilities.
He appealed to the villagers to encourage children and youth to make maximum use of the newly developed sports facilities and actively contribute towards their maintenance. He said that the government’s focus was not only on creating sports infrastructure but also on developing a strong sporting culture in rural Punjab.
OSD Sukhveer Singh further assured the villagers that their genuine development-related demands would continue to receive due attention and that efforts would be made to complete approved works within the stipulated timelines.
On the occasion, Chairman, Zila Parishad Rachhpal Singh Bhullar, Director, Punjab Small Industries, Anil Mittal, Zila Parishad Member Harjinder Singh Kanjhla, Gagan Jawandha, members of the village panchayat and a large number of villagers and youth were present.
