OSD Sukhveer Singh DC Poonamdeep Kaur Review Development Projects in Dhuri
Dhuri, August 31:- OSD to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Sukhveer Singh, and Deputy Commissioner Sangrur, Poonamdeep Kaur, today conducted an on-site inspection of various ongoing development projects in Dhuri city and reviewed their progress, quality and timelines with the concerned officials.
During the inspection, OSD Sukhveer Singh directed the concerned departments and executing agencies to accelerate the pace of ongoing works and ensure their timely completion in accordance with the prescribed quality standards. He emphasised that all development projects must be executed with utmost transparency, efficiency and accountability.
Sukhveer Singh said that the comprehensive development of Dhuri city is among the priorities of the Punjab Government and that regular field inspections are being conducted to ensure that development projects are progressing as planned. He said that officials must maintain close monitoring of every project so that any delay or deficiency is addressed promptly.
He categorically stated that no compromise with the quality of development works would be tolerated. In case of the use of substandard material or violation of prescribed specifications, strict action would be taken against the responsible contractor or official as per the rules.
The OSD said that the major overbridge in Dhuri city is targeted for completion within the 14–15 month timeline fixed by the administration. He said the completion of the overbridge would provide significant relief to residents by improving traffic flow and connectivity. He further directed the officials to expedite development works at Kranti Chowk and other parts of the city and ensure that all stipulated projects are completed by September 30.
During the inspection, the progress of the ?1.32-crore project for the development and beautification of Kranti Chowk was reviewed. The officials also reviewed the ?1.06-crore project for reconstruction of the Municipal Council Park near the vegetable market and installation of a statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the ?25-lakh project for upgradation of the indoor sports hall adjoining the Municipal Council Park, and the ?87-lakh project for development of the Park Wild Area beneath the approaches on the Sangrur side of the ROB.
Giving priority to the safety of players and children at the sports stadium, suitable quality mats are being installed in place of cement flooring. Sukhveer Singh said that a special committee is closely monitoring the quality of the mats as well as the installation work to ensure a safe and improved sporting environment for players.
He said that the Punjab Government is committed to transforming Dhuri into a city equipped with improved infrastructure, attractive public spaces and modern civic amenities. He added that continuous monitoring of development works is also aimed at ensuring judicious utilisation of public funds and delivering maximum benefits of these projects to the people.
ADC (G) Ankur Mahindru, SDM Ismat Vijay Singh, Chief Minister’s Field Officer Arvind Kumar, Municipal Council Dhuri President Amarjot Kaur Bajwa, Vice President Ajaib Singh, Chairman Sukhpal Singh, Advocate Happy Garg, Rubal Bajwa, Manish Jindal, Municipal Council members and officials of the concerned departments were also present.
