Nissan strengthens India leadership appoints Thierry Sabbagh as President
Chandigarh: Nissan has announced significant changes in its senior management across the Africa, Middle East, India, Europe, and Oceania (AMIO) region. These changes are aimed at strengthening the Re:Nissan transformation plan and improving operational efficiency, speed, and customer focus.
Effective January 1, 2026, Thierry Sabbagh's expanded responsibilities will include Nissan India. He has been appointed Divisional Vice President and President of West Asia, KSA, CIS & India – Nissan & Infiniti. This reflects Nissan's focus on governance, execution, and growth momentum in India as a strategic priority within the AMIO region, while maintaining leadership continuity in established markets.
India plays a central role in Nissan's ambitions for 2026, as the brand accelerates its resurgence in the country. Building on this momentum, Nissan India will launch three new models in the next 14 to 16 months, including the Gravite, Tecton, and a 7-seater C-SUV. The company is also expanding its reach to customers through its growing dealer network with 250 touchpoints across the country.
Commenting on the announcement, Massimiliano Messina, Nissan AMIO Chairperson, said, “The Re:Nissan plan is all about transformation and customer centricity. By empowering local leadership, we are working towards building a more resilient organization that responds quickly to market dynamics and delivers competitive and attractive products. I am confident that these changes will strengthen our performance and accelerate our progress towards 2026.” I wish Thierry every success in this new role.
These changes will strengthen Nissan's commitment to delivering innovative products and services quickly and efficiently. This will help AMIO adapt to the evolving needs of customers across diverse markets.
Nissan also announced the departure of Leon Dorssers, Senior Vice President, Chief of Commercial Operations, Nissan AMIO. Dorssers, who joined Nissan Europe in Amsterdam as a trainee in 1992, held several leadership roles within the company in France, Spain, Belgium, the US, and Japan before assuming the role of AMIO Senior Vice President Marketing & Sales in 2021.
