Health Talk Organized at Max on World Senior Citizens Day
Chandigarh: On the occasion of World Senior Citizens' Day, a health talk was organized at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Mohali, focusing on orthopedic and neurological health issues affecting senior citizens. Senior citizens from the community and members of various senior citizen associations participated in the event. The program addressed common age-related health issues—such as joint pain, arthritis, mobility problems, and neurological conditions—while emphasizing the importance of preventive healthcare and timely medical advice.
Speaking during the session, Dr. Gaurav Saini, Associate Director of Orthopedics and Joint Replacement, said, "Arthritis is a common condition among senior citizens that can significantly impact their mobility and quality of life. Symptoms may include joint pain, stiffness, swelling, tenderness, and reduced flexibility. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment can help manage symptoms and improve mobility. Regular physical activity, maintaining a healthy weight, and seeking timely medical advice can help senior citizens remain active and independent."
Dr. Sawan Kumar Verma, Associate Director of Neurology, stated, "Aging can bring changes to the nervous system, increasing the risk of neurological issues in the elderly, such as stroke, memory problems, seizures, walking difficulties, and speech-related changes. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, managing conditions like diabetes and hypertension, staying physically active, and seeking immediate medical attention upon noticing new neurological symptoms can aid in timely diagnosis and management."
