Gurugram HitandRun Case Accused Arrested in Rajasthan Charged with Attempt to Murder
Gurugram:- Kalyan Bainsla, the car driver accused of hitting a woman sports bike rider, also attempted to escape from police custody on Tuesday when he was apprehended on the Rajgarh-Dausa Road in Rajasthan, on the pretext of urinating. He sustained minor injuries after falling during the attempt and was given first aid at a hospital before being arrested by the police.
The car used in the incident, which is registered in the name of an acquaintance of the accused, has been recovered from his possession. Police have also detained one of Bainsla’s friends, identified as Lavneesh, who was with Bainsla at the time of the incident. He is Bainsla’s distant cousin, and police are investigating Lavneesh’s role in the entire incident.
According to the police, the arrested accused has been identified as Kalyan Bainsla (33), a resident of Chandhat in Palwal district. He runs a gym and is also involved in the property business.
DCP East Sandeep Kumar said that after giving an interview to the media regarding the case, the accused car driver switched off his mobile phone and fled to evade the police. Three teams were formed and he was eventually arrested in Rajasthan.
According to the police, on the morning of September 14, a woman bike rider shared a video on her social media platform showing that she had been hit by a car on Golf Course Road the previous morning (September 13). After the video came to the notice of Gurugram Police, attempts were made to contact the victim. Since no formal complaint had been received from the woman, Gurugram Police took suo motu cognizance of the incident and immediately registered a case under the relevant sections at Sector-56 Police Station.
