Government Providing Quality Seeds of Different Potato Varieties Shyam Singh Rana

Chandigarh, September 8:- Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shri Shyam Singh Rana said that the state government, through the Horticulture Department, is making available quality seeds of various advanced and disease-resistant potato varieties with the objective of increasing farmers’ income and making them economically stronger.
The Potato Technology Centre at Shamgarh in Karnal is providing early-generation seed and minitubers of high-yielding varieties such as Kufri Pukhraj, Kufri Mohan, Kufri Khyati, Kufri Chipsona and Kufri Frysona to farmers under a transparent system.
Shri Rana said that farmers can easily book these seeds online from home through the official portal of the Horticulture Department, **nursery.hortharyana.gov.in**. The use of these certified and virus-free seeds will not only significantly increase potato yield per acre, but the better quality of the crop will also enable farmers to receive premium prices for their produce in the market, thereby directly increasing their net income.
He said that at this centre, under Early Generation Seed (Year-3), 1276 quintals of seed-size, 298.5 quintals of under-size and 157 quintals of over-size seed of the Kufri Pukhraj variety are available. Similarly, under Early Generation Seed (Year-4), 255.5 quintals of seed-size, 9 quintals of under-size and 210 quintals of over-size seed of the Kufri Mohan variety are available. Under the Early Generation Seed (Year-1) category, 1 quintal of under-size seed of Kufri Chipsona-1, 2.5 quintals of seed-size and 20.5 quintals of over-size seed of Kufri Khyati, and 0.5 quintal of over-size seed of Kufri Uday have been made available for farmers.
He further said that there is also adequate availability of potato minitubers under the PTCMT category, including 25,000 units of Kufri Uday, 8,000 units of Kufri Chipsona-1, 11,000 units of Kufri Himalini and 75,000 units of Kufri Frysona.
