Air India flight suddenly drops by 300 feet

New Delhi:- The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau has released its initial report after the incident of sudden altitude loss of about 300 feet during the cruise phase of Air India flight AI-2379 from Phuket to Delhi on August 4.
According to the report, the confirmatory test of the pilot-in-command has come up with a non-negative (positive) result for psychoactive substances. AAIB has described it as a matter of serious concern and recommended the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to take appropriate action on priority. Detailed investigation of technical and other aspects is still underway.
This initial report has been issued as per the guidelines of the International Civil Aviation Organization. The investigation process is underway and the final report will be published later.
Let us tell you that on August 4, Air India's Airbus A320 flight was going from Phuket to Delhi. During the flight, there was a sudden drop in altitude of about 300 feet. At least 17 passengers and crew members were injured in this incident, some of whom also suffered spinal and neck injuries. The airline had said that there were no serious injuries and the needy were given medical examination at the airport. The plane reached Delhi safely. The incident has been classified as a serious incident (probable accident) by AAIB. Earlier, some reports mentioned bad weather/shocks, but the later investigation is also focusing on technical malfunction and now the pilot's test results. The detailed investigation report of AAIB is yet to come.
