Demand to Close Liquor, Meat and Paan Shops on Guru Ramdas Ji’s Parkash Purab – Ranjit Singh Bhoma

Amritsar: Ranjit Singh Bhoma, President of the Samaj Sudhar Sanstha Amritsar, has urged the district administration to declare October 7 and 8 as dry days on the occasion of Guru Ramdas Ji’s Parkash Purab and Nagar Kirtan. He pointed out that similar orders were issued on October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti) and October 6 (Valmiki Jayanti), directing the closure of liquor, meat, and paan shops, and the same should apply during this sacred occasion.

Bhoma highlighted that Guru Ramdas Ji established the holy city of Amritsar with his own hands and built Sri Harmandir Sahib as a symbol of inclusivity and peace. He said the Aam Aadmi Party had promised to confer “Holy City” status on Amritsar in its election manifesto, a pledge that should now be fulfilled.
He further appealed to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann that, just as Haridwar, Kashi, Mathura, Ayodhya, and Vaishno Devi have been declared holy cities, Amritsar—the Guru’s city—deserves the same status on priority.
