Nawanshahr- District Magistrate Ankurjit Singh, exercising powers conferred under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Act, 2023, has imposed a complete ban on the manufacture, sale, storage, purchase, supply, import and use of nylon/synthetic/plastic string (China string) for flying kites/dolls within the areas of police stations of urban and rural areas of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district.
All Executive Officers of Municipal Councils and DDPO Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar will make public announcement in their respective areas to implement this order within their respective limits and will be responsible for investigating and sending a report regarding the implementation of these orders. Senior Superintendent of Police, all Executive Officers of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar/Municipal Councils and all Block Development and Panchayat Officers in rural areas will be responsible for proper implementation of these orders. While imposing this ban, the District Magistrate said that synthetic/plastic string is very strong, indestructible and unbreakable.
This string cuts the throats and ears of cycle, scooter and motorcycle riders, there are also many incidents of birds dying after getting stuck in the air. Thus when this synthetic/plastic string is used for flying kites, it proves fatal for human life, passersby and birds, hence it is necessary to ban this string. This order will remain in force till 22 October 2025.
