Red Cross organizes free medical camp at Vidya Mandir School

Hoshiarpur- Red Cross Society organized a two-day free dental and eye check-up camp at Vidya Mandir School, Shimla Pahari, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner-cum-President District Red Cross Society Ashika Jain. The camp was inaugurated by Assistant Commissioner Oishi Mandal by lighting the lamp. The main objective of this camp was to promote early detection and preventive health services for healthy living among school children.

The main objective of this camp was to promote early detection and preventive health services for healthy living among school children.
For eye check-up, a partnership was formed with Thind Eye Hospital, Hoshiarpur, while more than 400 students were medically checked along with dental check-up by Dr. Riya Handa (BDS, MIDA). The main objective of this initiative was to identify dental and eye problems among students immediately and treat them properly. After the check-up, a brief report has been submitted to the school principal, through whom further action will be taken.
The Red Cross has advised the school management to contact the parents of those students who have minor or major health problems. The Red Cross has assured that full support will be provided through its resources and partner organizations for the free treatment of those children. Assistant Commissioner Oishi Mandal said that special attention is being paid to health care in the early age of children.
In the next phase, the Red Cross will also pay special attention to the education of poor children and children from slum areas. We will leave no stone unturned to become a beacon in the lives of the needy. He informed about the work being done by the District Red Cross Society such as projects like Sanji Raso, Wings, Jan Aushadhi Kendra and Physiotherapy Center. He said that all these efforts are bringing significant changes in the lives of thousands of people.
This trend will only get stronger. Secretary District Red Cross Society Mangesh Sood said that this camp is just a beginning. We have planned to organize such camps in many more schools as well. We will also include other health checks needed during childhood, so that their lives can be healthy and productive.
