New Delhi, July 4: China used Pakistan to harm India and was providing all possible assistance to its perennial ally during the four-day clash between Indian and Pakistani armies in May, Army Vice Chief Lt Gen Rahul R Singh said on Friday.
Addressing industry chamber FICCI, the senior officer said China also used the India-Pakistan conflict as a ‘live lab’ available to test various weapon systems. Lt Gen Singh emphasised China’s ancient military strategy of ‘36 tactics’ and killing the adversary with ‘borrowed knife’ to prove that Beijing provided all possible assistance to Pakistan to harm India.
He suggested that India was actually dealing with three adversaries. These include Pakistan and China and Turkey, which has also played a major role in supplying military hardware to Islamabad.
The vice-chief of the army said Beijing’s support for Islamabad was not surprising. “Pakistan was the front face. China was providing us with all possible assistance. It was not surprising because, if you look at the figures of the last five years, 81 percent of the military hardware that Pakistan received is Chinese,” he said.
Lt Gen Singh said Turkey also played a key role in providing assistance to Pakistan. “We saw many drones coming and going with people present there during the war, during the war,” he said.
