World Punjabi Sabha begins three-day International Punjabi Conference in Toronto.

Brampton, June 21 – The Sixth International Punjabi Conference by World Punjabi Sabha Canada with the aim of further strengthening, enhancing and shaping Punjabi language, literature, culture and solidarity has begun with great enthusiasm today at the World Punjabi Bhawan in the city of Brampton (Toronto), Canada. The conference was inaugurated with the singing of various Shabads by Subeg Singh Kathuria in accordance with Sikh rituals.

Brampton, June 21 – The Sixth International Punjabi Conference by World Punjabi Sabha Canada with the aim of further strengthening, enhancing and shaping Punjabi language, literature, culture and solidarity has begun with great enthusiasm today at the World Punjabi Bhawan in the city of Brampton (Toronto), Canada. The conference was inaugurated with the singing of various Shabads by Subeg Singh Kathuria in accordance with Sikh rituals.
During the presiding speech of the conference, which began under the leadership of World Punjabi Sabha Canada Chairman Dr. Dalbir Singh Kathuria, Shiromani Punjabi writer Dr. Waryam Singh Sandhu said that by organizing this conference, the Sabha has made the whole world aware of the development of mother tongue Punjabi. He said that we will have to start this journey from our own homes.
Dr. Sandhu also made the audience, writers and Punjabi language lovers take a pledge to start this effort from their homes. He said that we are enduring a lot of hardships only by spreading the message of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
Earlier, Dr. Dalbir Singh Kathuria, Shiromani Punjabi writer Dr. Waryam Singh Sandhu, former Dean of Panjab University Dr. Jaspal Kaur Kang, Chancellor of Guru Kashi University Talwandi Sabo Dr. Gurlabh Singh, Dr. Pargat Singh Bagga, Inderjit Singh Bal, Dr. Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal, Dr. Amarjit Kaunke, Roop Kahlon and Director of Chardikla Time TV Delhi Amritpal Singh inaugurated the ceremony by lighting the lamp. 
The welcome address of the ceremony was read by Inderjit Singh Bal, Patron of Vishwa Punjabi Sabha. Gurlabh Singh delivered the opening remarks. During the keynote address, Dr. Jaspal Kaur Kang emphasized on the need to create a society according to the Guru's wishes.
Rintu Bhatia also entertained the audience with Shabad singing. Punjabi journalist Sarabjit Singh Bhangu appreciated the efforts of the assembly and said that there is a dire need for such conferences and organizational efforts all over the world for the development of Punjabi language. Dr. Pargat Singh Bagga expressed his gratitude. Prof. Jagir Singh Kahlon, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur and Dr. Amardeep Bindra played the role of stage director well.
The conference was attended by eminent writer Principal Sarwan Singh, former MLA and renowned journalist Kanwar Sandhu, Bittu Sandhu, Jaswinder Singh Rupal, Puran Singh Pandhi, Rajwant Kaur Sandhu, Dr. Jagir Singh Noor, Surinder Preet Ghania, Kanwaljit Singh Lucky, Dalbir Singh Riar, Pakistani writer Tahira Sara, folk singer Hasnain Akbar, poet Surjit Kaur, Prof. Kuljit Kaur, Dr. Navjot Kaur and many other writers were present. Dr. Kathuria said that Punjabi is not just a language but it is a language of love, brotherhood and connecting the world with relationships. 
In its roots, in its veins, in its chest, in its heartbeat there are seeds of spirituality and today when many countries of the world are in mutual tension and struggling to maintain their sovereignty, at this time the role and contribution of the World Punjabi Sabha Canada increases even more. It is worth mentioning that the closing ceremony of the conference will be held on June 22.
