Islamabad, June 21 - Pakistan has said in a post on social media platform that US President Donald Trump should be awarded the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his decisive diplomatic intervention and key leadership during the recent India-Pakistan crisis.
Earlier, Trump has repeatedly claimed that he played a key role in de-escalating the India-Pakistan conflict, although Indian leaders and officials have rejected this claim.
The nomination came after Trump was asked about the Nobel Prizes on Friday and said that he (Trump) should receive the award for several reasons, including his work on India and Pakistan and paving the way for a treaty.
Regarding the treaty, he said that this agreement will be signed on Monday to end hostilities between two African countries - the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda. President Trump said, "I should have received it four or five times. They will not give me the Nobel Peace Prize because they only give it to liberals."
