Bathinda, June 16 - Bollywood singer Mika Singh has expressed great concern over the murder of social media Kanchan Kumari alias Kamal Kaur Bhabhi. Kanchan Kumari, a resident of Ludhiana, was allegedly murdered by some Nihangs. Her body was found in a car parked outside Adesh Hospital in Bhuchon Kalan on the Bathinda-Chandigarh Highway on Wednesday night.
Nihang Amritpal Singh Mehron had allegedly taken responsibility for the murder in a video. Mehron had claimed that despite repeated explanations in the past, Kamal Kaur Bhabhi was posting 'obscene' content on social media. The incident has sparked public anger on social media.
Singer Mika Singh has appealed to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann through a video to take immediate action against those responsible. Mika said that such acts are a matter of shame for the Sikh community. The singer said, “Our community has a different identity. We are known for setting up ‘langar’ (offering free food) for the needy. If these people really want to eliminate bad elements, then target the gangsters active in Punjab.”
Mika also quoted Shaheed Bhagat Singh. He said that Bhagat Singh gave his life for the country, while the culprits are presenting this murder as an act of heroism. Mika criticized those who target women in the name of culture. He said that true warriors protect the weak, do not harm them.
Kanchan Kumari alias Kamal Kaur Bhabhi was a well-known personality on Instagram with about four lakh followers. Mika Singh demanded strict punishment for the culprits and stressed that no one has the right to take the law into their own hands. Five people have been named so far in the Kanchan Kumari murder case - Amritpal Singh Mehron; his two alleged accomplices Nimratjit Singh and Jaspreet Singh (both Nihangs), Ranjit Singh and an unidentified person. According to the police, Amritpal has fled to the UAE while Nimratjit and Jaspreet are in custody.
