Bathinda, June 15 – Nihang Amritpal Singh Mehron took a flight from Amritsar airport and fled to UAE a few hours after the murder of social media influencer Kanchan Kumari alias Kamal Kaur Bhabhi.
This claim has been made by Bathinda SSP Amneet Kondal. It is worth mentioning that the Bathinda police had issued a lookout circular against Amritpal Singh on Saturday as the police suspected that he might try to flee abroad.
Kondal said, “When we obtained Amritpal’s passport details and checked his travel records, we came to know that he had fled to UAE after killing Kanchan. We are now starting the paperwork for his deportation from UAE. We have informed the authorities there that he is wanted in a murder case here.’’
The police claimed that two other associates of Amritpal – Ranjit Singh of Sohal village in Tarn Taran district and an unidentified person – have been named in the FIR. “They helped Amritpal escape in a car after committing the crime.
Efforts are also on to nab them,” the SSP said. “We got this information during the interrogation of Amritpal’s two associates Nimratjit Singh and Jaspreet Singh, whose two-day remand ends today. We will seek further police custody for questioning them.”
The SSP revealed that during the investigation, it came to light that Amritpal had planned the murder three months ago. He had also spied in Ludhiana along with his two associates.
The police officer further said, “The deceased was a resident of Ludhiana, and Amritpal and his associates had also stayed at a hotel near her residence to do the right thing.”
A total of five people have been registered in the case so far. They have also been charged with destroying evidence. It is worth noting that Kanchan’s charred body was found on Friday night in the back seat of a car parked outside Adesh University on the Bathinda-Chandigarh highway.
