Chandigarh, June 14 - Haryana Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini will inaugurate the newly constructed semi-modern jail complex in Fidri village of Rewari district at 10 am today. It has been built at a cost of Rs 95 crore and is spread over about 50 acres of land.
Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Jails, Criminal Investigation and Administration of Justice Department Dr. Sumita Mishra said that the new jail complex will address the long-standing deficiency in jail infrastructure in Rewari.
Till now, the district had a small jail with a capacity of only 65 prisoners, due to which more than 700 prisoners were transferred to facilities in Gurugram, Larnole and Jhajjar.
The new jail is designed to accommodate around 1,000 prisoners, which will significantly increase the capacity and reduce the logistical challenges in prisoner management in the region. Dr. Mishra said that the construction of a high-security jail in Rohtak for convicts involved in serious crimes is in the final stages and a state-of-the-art training academy for prison staff has recently been set up in Karnal to enhance professional standards in prison administration across the state.
