Controversial remarks against Colonel Qureshi: Madhya Pradesh High Court orders registration of FIR against minister.

Jabalpur: The Madhya Pradesh High Court has ordered registration of an FIR against state minister Vijay Shah for his controversial remarks targeting Army officer Colonel Sophia Qureshi. Colonel Qureshi had shared details of the ‘Operation Sindhur’ carried out by the Indian Armed Forces during a media conference, which was also attended by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh Shah.

Tribal Affairs Minister and BJP leader Vijay Shah in the Madhya Pradesh government had made derogatory remarks against Colonel Qureshi, which created a major controversy. He had tried to portray Colonel Qureshi as the ‘sister of terrorists’. Taking cognizance of the controversial statement, a bench of Justices Atul Sreedharan and Anuradha Shukla of the High Court ordered the police to register an FIR against the minister.
The court ordered the police department to register an FIR by this evening. The bench said that the court should be informed about the registration of the FIR. The next hearing in the matter has been fixed for 10:30 am on Thursday. Shah's remarks were widely condemned and the Congress has demanded his immediate dismissal from the Madhya Pradesh cabinet.
