New Delhi: Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited has developed a new low-cost counter drone system Hard Kill Mode ‘Bhargavastra’ which is capable of countering the threat of multiple drones. The micro rockets used in this counter-drone system were successfully tested at the Seaward Firing Range in Gopalpur.
Three tests were conducted for the rocket at Gopalpur on May 13 in the presence of senior Army Air Defence officers. Two tests were conducted by firing one rocket each.
In one trial, two rockets were fired in salvo mode within two seconds. All the four rockets performed as expected and landed on the required launch parameters, highlighting its leading technology in reducing drone attacks on a large scale.
Developed to counter the threat of unmanned aerial vehicles, ‘Bhargavastra’ has the capability to detect and destroy small drones approaching at a distance of 2.5 km. It uses unguided micro rockets as the first layer of defence, capable of neutralising drones with a lethal radius of 20 meters and guided micro-missiles (already tested) as the second layer for pinpoint accuracy, ensuring precise and effective neutralisation.
