Chandigarh, May 8 - The Punjab Police has sent Bhakra Beas Management Board Chairman Manoj Tripathi, who reached Nangal Dam, back safely after a struggle. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has reached Nangal Dam.
Tripathi had reached Nangal Dam unexpectedly today so that the decision to release excess water from the dam to Haryana could be implemented. Today, as soon as the people of the surrounding area got the news of the chairman's arrival, they gathered. Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains and MLA Dr. Charanjit Singh led the people to stage a protest near the dam.
Chairman Manoj Tripathi was staying at the guest house Sutlej Sadan and when he started returning to his vehicle, the people surrounded the vehicle. By the time the news was written, the police had brought the people under control and sent the chairman's vehicle back safely from the dam. The people gathered there raised slogans of "Murdabad" against the chairman and BBMB. DIG of Ropar Range Harcharan Singh Bhullar was also present on the occasion.
