SAS Nagar, April 10: Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal along with Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Sonam Chaudhary visited Mohali and Majri blocks today and reviewed the ongoing development works in various villages. Highlighting the importance of healthy rural environment, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for creating playgrounds and cleaning village ponds. He said that in line with the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Shri Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Mohali district administration is committed to provide clean and safe environment for the youth along with permanent solutions for liquid waste management.

Highlighting the importance of healthy rural environment, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for creating playgrounds and cleaning village ponds. He said that in line with the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Shri Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Mohali district administration is committed to provide clean and safe environment for the youth along with permanent solutions for liquid waste management.
During his visit to villages including Bahlolpur, Chandpur and Naggal Garhian, he inspected the completed and ongoing works related to ponds and playgrounds. He informed that 100 playgrounds have already been developed in the last financial year, while 184 more playgrounds are planned to be created in additional villages.
He further informed that ponds in villages across the district would soon be developed based on the Thapar model, which aims to provide a long-term solution to the problem of liquid waste in rural areas.
Deputy Commissioner Mittal directed ADC Sonam Choudhary to ensure close monitoring of all ongoing rural development projects, with special focus on timely completion of pond and playground works.
He said that the block development and panchayat officers would be held accountable for the ground implementation of these initiatives. ADC Sonam Choudhary assured the Deputy Commissioner of timely progress, confirming that she would personally monitor the daily updates and ensure efficient implementation of the projects.
